Gauteng Championships, 01st - 3rd November.

7 November 2019

This past weekend saw the U16s travel up to Roodeplaat Dam in Gauteng to participate in the Gauteng Schools Championships. This event presents the boys with their first opportunity of the season to race over a 2000m course, as well as against the stiff competition emanating from the schools in Gauteng. It also constitutes as their last major rowing competition of 2019.

The boys performed admirably. In brief sum, the two coxed-four crews managed noteworthy 5th and 11th places in their event, while the coxless-four earned silver in theirs. The focus boat of the age group, the eight, secured a tightly-fought fourth place, missing out on the bronze medal by a mere 1 second to a competitive crew from Jeppe Boys.

Off the water, the boys behaved with the integrity and dignity that is becoming of a Bishops Boy. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, they had a blast and formed memories that will stay with them forever.
