Netherlands Hockey Tour 2-16 April
Bishops 1st team squad and Colts (Development) team toured the Netherlands during the April holidays as part of the 2017 pre-season preparation. We stayed in the cities of Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Utrecht and The Hague where we attended 4 coaching sessions by top Dutch coaches, played 5 warm up matches, watched Euro hockey league ¼ final matches and participated in the HDM club tournament over the Easter weekend. This tournament included clubs and schools from Australia, Ireland, USA, Canada, Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands.
The boys also engaged in some cultural and leisure activities, a 15km bicycle tour to the Kinderdijk Wind mills, a canal cruise in Amsterdam, a humbling visit to the Anne Frank House museum and a visit to Efteling theme park. The boys were great ambassadors for the school while they were abroad as they were extremely well behaved, resulting in an enjoyable tour for everyone. They received many compliments from the host clubs and hotel staff for their good manners and excellent conduct. There were some great life lessons learnt, both on and off the field. The cherry on top being the 1st team winning the final on Easter Sunday against the host club HDM.
