History Society Meeting: Student Presentation by Michael Rich

27 January 2026

The History Society hosted its first meeting of 2026 on Tuesday, 27 January. It was a presentation by Committee member and Grade 11, Michael Rich. Speakers are tasked with speaking on the theme of "Change" but are allowed a wide scope (i.e., to choose on which topic they would like to speak). Michael spoke on sports and its power for change, referencing key moments in the past century and how societies have been moved forward—changed—through the impact of sports, whether as a tool of social pressure—in the anti-apartheid movement and in more recent world conflicts—or as a tool of collective joy. Students are welcome to contact Mr Nzuza (via email or find him in K7) or Michael Whitelaw, the Chairpeson of the Society. [ends]
