Bishops 2nd Team Win Pearson 2nd Team Water Polo Tournament
6 February 2026
The 2nd and 3rd Teams competed in the Pearson 2nd Team Water Polo Tournament in Port Elizabeth.
We are thrilled to announce that our 2nd water polo team emerged victorious after four days of intense competition. The team played exceptional water polo, remaining unbeaten. After topping their pool beating they advanced directly to the quarter-finals, where they triumphed over Michaelhouse with a score of 9-1. In the semi-finals they outplayed Paul Roos team and secured their place in the final. The final found hottest rivals Bishops and Rondebosch playing in a nail-biting, high-paced match. Our 2nd team showcased their teamwork and skill, ultimately winning 9-7 and taking the tournament title for the second year running. Their excellence in the water was matched by their exemplary sportsmanship. Special accolades go to James Ciolli, who was named Defender of the Tournament.
Our Bishops 3rd team also displayed remarkable tenacity throughout the pool stage matches, finishing 1st in their pool. This achievement earned them a spot in the playoffs, where they were defeated by the Rondebosch 2nd team. In a playoff for 5/6th position they unfortunately lost to a formidable St David’s team. Nevertheless, the Bishops 3rds finished the tournament as the highest placed 3rd team in a proud 6th place.
We commend the players from both teams for their outstanding team spirit and exemplary behaviour throughout the tour.
