SA Champs Rowing Results

10 March 2026

Bishops Rowing recently competed at the 48th Annual South African Schools Rowing Championships, held at Roodeplaat Dam. This prestigious regatta brings together the best schoolboy and schoolgirl rowers in the country, with athletes competing across all age groups from U14 to U19 and in every boat class. It is a festival of school rowing in South Africa, with hundreds of athletes and supporters lining the banks.

Bishops delivered a proud and determined performance, securing multiple fourth-place finishes across several age groups. This achievement is particularly noteworthy given that the squad had no water on which to train for much of the 2026 season.

The club ultimately placed 5th overall, finishing as the top coastal school and just 12 points behind St Stithians College in 4th place. These results reflect the continued growth of Bishops Rowing and the strengthening culture, pride, and reputation the programme is building within the national rowing community.

Looking ahead, the ambition of the club is clear: to convert these close finishes into more medals and to establish Bishops among the top three school rowing programmes in South Africa in the years to come.
