History Society Presentation by the Chairperson: Michael Whitelaw

The chairperson of the History Society, Michael Whitelaw, recently hosted a talk on the historical causes of the current Russo-Ukrainian conflict. The talk looked at the deeper political roots dating back to World War 2, including the Cold War, and the development of military alliances across the European continent. In particular, the talk highlighted the many missed opportunities during the 2000s and 2010s to resolve the conflict and avoid the current situation. Following the presentation the society engaged in a well-spirited discussion about the topic.
