Space Design Competition
18 April 2026
In the first week of the Easter holidays eight Grade 10 and five Grade 11 boys competed in the South African Space Design Competition. They were teamed up with other schools to form companies that had to design a permanent space station on the moon whilst considering budget, human resources and sustainability in addition to all the technological aspects of the design. The company that included our Grade 10 entrants won the overall competition. In addition, Dean Weich and Ben Honigwachs received awards for 'Exceptional Technological Thinking'. Dean and Ben have since been included in 'Team South Africa' to attend the International Space Design Competition that will take place at NASA in Florida, USA in August this year. This is a massive achievement - congratulations to them and to all the Bishops entrants who represented us so well.
