We are fortunate enough to have passionate and experienced coaches across the age-groups who encourage our philosophy of sportsmanship and commitment. We believe in a holistic approach to the sport, motivating boys to get involved in coaching younger teams, as well as refereeing and managing the table at the weekend games. We participate in the local league and our U14A, U15A and 1st teams all take part in the top waterpolo tournaments around the country.
Bishops is one of the leading schools in South Africa as far as sport is concerned and our reputation for sporting excellence is world-wide. In keeping with the ethos of our school, we believe that sport plays a vital role in the development of young men. In particular, we believe that participation in a team sport enhances the educational experience. To this end, it is a school rule that all boys must play an official school sport during both summer and winter terms.

History
Waterpolo is considered a relatively "young" sport in the context of traditional South African school sport. However, over the past few years it has established itself as an exciting and immensely popular option that attracts players and spectators alike.
The Western Cape is considered the most dominant province in the country for schools' waterpolo and Bishops has a proud history of Western Province representation across the age groups. In 2013, we had over 25 boys awarded their provincial colours.
Our national representation is on the rise too. Our most recent achievements include Nick Schooling (2011) being selected for the South African Men's Team and Max Herberstein (2013) being selected for the South African U18 team.
Facilities & Coaching
We have an 8 lane 25m swimming pool - under lights, covered & heated in Winter months - as well as a second heated, international sized pool that is used exclusively for water-polo. The Bishops Waterpolo Club was recently established and will be central to our development and growth.
