In debating, Full Colours and Distinction Ties are honours reserved almost exclusively for those in Grade 11 or 12, as it is only at this stage that a debater’s skill usually reaches its full maturity. Yet today, we recognise a young man who has not only reached these heights ahead of time, but has surpassed them with distinction. For representing our school at the Western Cape Schools Debating Championship in 2024, and for achieving an extraordinary 5th place in the world, we are immensely proud to present Hamaad Badroodien with his Full Colours for Debating. But his achievements do not end there. For further representing our school on the international stage at the Asia World Schools Debating Championship, and for securing a remarkable 7th place in the world, it is with the greatest pride and honour that we bestow upon Hamaad his Distinction Tie for Debating. His exceptional dedication, talent, and commitment to his craft serve as an inspiration to us all
