This past weekend saw Bishops Rowing Club travelling along the N7 to Misverstrand dam, where we were kindly hosted by Club Elani. The biggest challenge of the weekend was keeping one’s eyes off the exquisite snow-capped Grootwinterhoek Mountain Range. The purpose of the weekend? To prepare for the Berg River row, a 27km event.

Both coach and rower had 2 sessions to regain the rhythm once again, management of logistics to enable this tour and to move the rowing boat takes time. The evening session upon arrival was stunning - bright yellow canola oil fields with snow in the backdrop light pink by the sunset. One can easily say there was no better place to be.

An evening under the stars Mr. Smith showed proof of his Eastern Cape lineage with a masterful braai and content boys settled in for the evening.

Next to freezing conditions on Sunday morning did not deter the boys. A successful camp indeed.
