The 4th Berg River Long Row 

This year, Elgin rowing club will host the 4th Berg River Long Row! Inspired from the Vaal River Long row, which has been a major competition on any South Africans calendar for a number of Years, the Berg River Long Row provides a similar opportunity over 24 – 27km depending on navigation skills!  

The Berg River Long Row will start on Doornfontein Farm – just off Hopefield in the Western Cape, on Sunday the 5th September 2021, starting at 9h00. 

Bishops will be sending 37 competitors, more than any club, three full 8+’s, an Oct and one lad who will sit in a PGRC (Peninsula Girls Rowing Club) Quad! Boats are set off in 5-minute intervals starting with 1x progressing to 8+. The boats will follow the Bergriver for approximately 27km to Die Pont Riviera Hotel in Velddrift where the trailers will be waiting for the boats.
